FREE BOOKS - SPREADING THE WORD

PaperBackSwap.com - Our online book club offers free books when you swap, trade, or exchange your used books with other book club members for free.
Have you heard of Paperback Book Swap yet? If you haven't (and you like books) you're in for a treat! I was addicted after about 20 minutes of checking it all out and had my first free book on it's way within an hour.

It's quite an ingenious system they have set up, here's how it works in a nutshell:

  • The whole thing works on a credit system, each credit is worth a free book. You can immediately get 2 free credits just by listing your first 10 books.
  • It's SO easy to list books- all you need to do is enter the ISBN number listed on the back of the book. All of the pertinent info then pops up including a photo...if it's correct, just click the post button and you're done! It's that easy.
  • When a member requests a book from your list, you are notified via email. Simply print out the wrapper, follow the easy instructions for wrapping the book, and put the correct number of stamps on the front (postage amount is automatically printed on the wrapper), and put the book out in your mailbox for pickup.
  • You also have the option of using your own wrap/envelope and hand printing the address if you don't have access to a printer.
  • Once the book is received by the member, you get a credit added to your account.
  • You can get immediate credits if you print your label with the postage included...there is a small fee to use this service.

More details are available on this very user friendly site!

I've already got about a hundred books on my wish list and have mailed out my first to books. This is just about the coolest site I've ever seen!

You can check it out for yourself here:

ETSY ANGELS ANSWER THE CALL

During the month of march, Tigerlily Studio and Petticoat Annie will be joining with the rest of the Etsy Angels Team in raising money for Answer The Call. We will donate 15% of our dream pillow sales and 10% of the sales from the rest of our shop.

Read about this very deserving cause and learn how you can help below.

♥ Etsy Angels show their support to the Answer the Call Fund in March ♥

ANSWER THE CALL
As human beings we are all charged with the idea to love one another as we love ourselves, but there are those among us who live and breathe these words to their very souls. They are represented in every race, color and creed and together they vow to protect and serve their fellow man.

The “Answer The Call” fund was established in 1985 to give financial comfort to the spouses & children of the New York City firefighters and police offices who lost their lives in the line of duty. Within 15 minutes both of the World Trade Center towers were intentionally struck by aircraft. We knew as a country we had been attacked. While thousands of people rushed to leave the burning buildings hundreds of first responders answered the call and rushed into the inferno to help save those they could.

On September 11th 2001 - 343 New York City Firefighters, 23 New York City Police Officers, 37 Port Authority Police Officers and 15 EMT Personal were killed in a horrific act of terrorism. The families, spouses & children of these heroes are left to carry on after this senseless & catastrophic attack.

The Answer the Call fund has been depending on the generosity of citizens for it’s funding since its inception in 1985. In 1987 the fund provided 320 families with annual financial assistance. After 9/11 their efforts expanded to include the families of Port Authority officers and EMS. By 2008, they made the same annual financial commitment to nearly 700 families.

Don’t let the words “We Will Never Forget” become a cliché or a passing thought – please won’t you Answer the Call to help the families of those who’ve made the ultimate sacrifice without question or hesitation. During the month of March the Etsy Angels team will be helping to raise money for the Answer the Call fund.

You can help in three ways either by donating proceeds or a portion of the from sales you make as an Etsy shop owner, by making purchases from the participating shops listed below or by making a monetary contribution to a paypal account that will be set up to collect the funds for this months drive. Please remember that even small donations when combined with others can make a difference. The families of these heroes still need our help we need to show them WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

SANDWICH CRAFTSMEN'S CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE

Join us TODAY, Sunday December 7th from 10-5 for the 31st annual Sandwich Craftsmen’s Christmas in the Village Festival in Sandwich, NH!!

As a girl I can remember the excitement of visiting all the artists and craftmen's shops on this special weekend. Christmas cookies, wassail, hot cocoa, holiday music and beautifully decorated shops greeted us along the way! I'll never forget how proud I was one year, I think I was 7, to have some of my handmade gift tags for sale in one of the shops :0)

As an adult, I still enjoy this special weekend and am so pleased to be a part of it. Tigerlily Studio and Petticoat Annie wares will be for sale at Anne Made on Grove Street today, Sunday December 7th, from 10-5. Anne's shop will continue to be open weekends until Christmas. Here is an excerpt from the Discover Sandwich website about Anne Made

Anne Made and Hill Country Books

AnneMade, Hill Country Books, &
Friends at 25 Grove Street, Center Sandwich are not listed as an “official”
location on the Craftsmen’s Map so they are not part of the door prize stamping.
They are, however, one of the Saturday stops for the carriage rides and they are
in the village so are an easy walk from the churches and the school. This will
be their 25th annual Holiday Open House. They will be open Sat, Dec 6
from 10-5 & Sun, Dec. 7 from 10-5. Anne, John, and Ellen Perkins have
fabulous used and rare books, original handmade Christmas ornaments, art,
hand-knits, baked goods, jewelry and more. Unique Handmade Items for Everyone on Your List!

Among the local crafters and friends are: Carrie Sandblom (who goes by Tigerlily Studios) and Liz's Jewelry (Blue Jewelry Designs) and Judi Dunlap. Handmade cards and tags and all that good stuff.

You can find Anne Made, shown as #6 on this map:
